Ambient Car Lighting Installation Guide

Tools you need

• Plastic trim removal set (no metal pry tools)
• Torx and Phillips drivers
• Fish tape or a stiff nylon rod for routing fibre
• Add-a-circuit fuse tap and inline 3A fuse
• Multimeter for confirming a switched 12V source
• Heat-shrink, loom tape and zip ties

Step-by-step installation

1. 01

   Plan the light lines

   Sit in the cabin and mark every run: dash trim seam, both door cards, centre console edge and footwells. Fibre-optic line follows an existing panel gap — never a glued surface. Keep each run under 3 m from the driver module so brightness stays even end to end.

2. 02

   Disconnect power

   Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait five minutes before touching interior trim. Modern cabins carry airbag wiring behind the dash and door cards; the delay lets the SRS capacitors drain.

3. 03

   Remove trim panels

   Release door cards, sill plates and lower dash panels with plastic tools, working from the bottom edge upward. Bag every clip and screw per panel. Expect a few brittle clips on cars over eight years old — order spares before you start.

4. 04

   Route the fibre-optic line

   Feed the fibre behind the trim seam with fish tape, leaving 100 mm of slack at each end. Bend radius matters: anything tighter than 30 mm dims the line and eventually cracks the core. Cross the door jamb inside the factory rubber boot, never across the hinge.

5. 05

   Mount the driver module

   Fix the driver behind the glovebox or under the centre console with the emitters facing the fibre tails. Keep it clear of blower housings and away from the airbag deployment path. Seat each fibre tail fully into its emitter port until it stops.

6. 06

   Wire power and ground

   Tap an ignition-switched 12V circuit with a fuse tap and inline 3A fuse so the kit cannot drain the battery. Confirm the circuit drops to 0V with the key out using a multimeter. Ground to a factory chassis bolt with a ring terminal, not to a trim screw.

7. 07

   Test before reassembly

   Reconnect the battery and cycle the full colour range, brightness sweep and any music-reactive mode. Check both ends of every fibre run for hot spots or dark sections while the panels are still off — this is the only cheap moment to fix them.

8. 08

   Reassemble and pair

   Refit panels in reverse order, tucking slack into loom channels so nothing rattles. Pair the app or bind the kit to your factory interior-light switch, then save your presets. Total time is typically two to four hours for a first install.

Vehicle compatibility

Vehicles

Any 12V passenger car. Veloce kits ship with universal fibre and adapters for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, VW, Toyota and Tesla trim profiles.

Factory ambient lighting

Cars with OEM ambient light can run a Veloce kit alongside it. Bind to the same switched circuit so both fade together.

Power draw

2–14W depending on run length and brightness — well inside a spare accessory circuit. Never share a circuit with the airbag, ABS or CAN gateway fuses.

24V and classic vehicles

Trucks and 24V systems need a step-down converter. Pre-1990 cabins often lack an ignition-switched accessory circuit, so add a relay off the ignition feed.
